Roy Oliver awarded Citizen of the Year 2010 by Lincolnshire County Council

Citizen of the year 2010

CONGRATULATIONS!

Roy Oliver was surprised and delighted to receive the CITIZEN OF THE YEAR 2010 award from the Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council at a ceremony in the Council Chamber on 14th May 2010.

He was nominated by the Parish Council for the role he has played in village life over the 36 years that he has lived in Willingham.

For over 25 of these years he has run a Table Tennis club in the Village Hall, encouraging a great number of both youngsters and adults to engage in this sport.  For many years now Roy has also been the Caretaker of the Village Hall.  Nothing is ever too much trouble and he can always be relied on to be there to turn the heating on when needed, make sure everything is ship-shape and check things over after an event.

In addition Roy gives many hours of his time to help people in need within the  village, withoug seeking any recognition for his efforts.  He can always been counted on to support people who are having a difficult time.

Without people like Roy the village would be a poorer place.  Our hearty congratulations go to him - we are delighted that he has been recognised as Lincolnshire's Citizen of the Year.
